Originally from Southern Illinois, she grew up in a small, country town where her backyard was a cornfield and her past time was hiking the trails of Giant City State Park. She has her Bachelors in Psychology and Anthropology from Southern Illinois University, and Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. from University of North Florida. Jada is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), and Qualified Supervisor (QS-MH) for future therapists. In 2019, Jada started her private practice, Just Keep Swimming Counseling, LLC.
Her counseling experience began in the non-profit sector, where she truly began to swim. Jada is an individual who lives by her values, and advocacy for mental health is at the heart of her work. This has been reflected in her work as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault, and counselor for teens in diversion programs and adults coming out of our penal system.
Since this time she has switched to working in the private sector, where she has perfected her stroke via training and experience. She developed a Substance Abuse Group for teens, as well as worked as a Clinical Director of an Intensive Outpatient Program for Substance Abuse. She believes that there is no “one glove fits all” for addiction, but offers individuals multiple evidenced based methodologies.
Jada specializes in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and has been intensely trained under Dr. Sharon Manning., DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician.. She is currently working towards certification in DBT, and works under the mentorship of Dr. Allison Ventura, DBT-Linehan Board of Certification, Certified Clinician. Jada is also the Clinical Director of KEBT's IOP-SUD , runs a DBT Skills Group, and meets with teens and adults struggling with emotional, behavioral, & interpersonal dysregulation.
Beyond her clinical experience, she is a firm believer in putting her own life jacket on first. So when not in the office, you can find her engaging in a variety of self-care activities: hiking, reading, exercise, spending time with her fur babies (Jar Jar Binx and Hans Solo) and friends, eating good food, and watching TV Shows.
